I have to say though, as an experienced glad 5 monk SoR to me is one of the most passive prots in RA. It is inferior to ZB because its an enchant. Imagine it getting corrupted enchanted or rend touched. Theres plenty of enchant removals. It doesnt prevent warriors from still gaining adren off you and sins can still dmg you with their conditions. SoR is a very passive skill for beginner monks imo, When theres correct prot-ing being done, there shouldnt be a case to call for an SoR.
Devotion + Deny is a pretty awesome combo. But in arena to prevent backfire, migraine, soul leech, langour, depravity etc etc you need holy veil. Because once migraine and those stuff are on you, i dont think you'll have a chance to take it off ; )

This is the wacky ranger sin build. Depending on the situation its either better or slightly not as good as a thumper. But its fun as hell...
Note for this to work best you should use zealous daggers ( -5 energy^50, NOT 15^50. You dont need the energy because you actually gain more energy by using dual attacks then you lose it. Same concept with armor insignias. Go for broke. ) , have 12 DM, 14 Ex, and 9 BM.
The main advantage over a normal sin is that the constant IAS makes it more viable to stop in the middle of mobius spam and go back to leaping -> exausting to interrupt key spells. Very usefull againt curse necros and ele's, its very easy to make it so they cast nothing. The IAS also makes up for the damage lost from no CS.
Also, even with critical eye, the sin version of this does start to run dry of energy. This can go forever, even when ressed with no energy.

sor+schield of absorbation= bye bye sin in RA , you stil get dmg through the conditions but you dont take dmg from his atacks anymore. And in RA nearly no one brings enchant removal. but in TA ZB>sor

Im not a good monk, but even when I come as monk to RA shield of absorb is enough to make any sin useless. Using SOR is for that is throwing energy for nothing.

Schield of ab dont last perma, there is often more than only 1 sin thaths trying to kill you, and you can cast sor stil pretty wel under daze wile schield of absorbation is almost imposible to cast under daze, and my english is verry bad XD

When monking in RA, gaurdian has become a good skill to bring again. The update makes it last a good while when you have a +20 enchant, and you can keep it up.

Well, I think there isn't that much enchant removal in RA, however I didn't do RA lately. It might have changed, but when I was playing, there was little to no enchant removal. And for me (personally), it is so good because it's passive. You plant it on someone getting attacked a lot and you can leave him alone for 8-10 secs, depending on runes, while healing others and protting yourself etc... ZB never worked for me somehow, it is slow and waiting for an ally to drop <50% is risky also...

dont have template or gw running at moment so lets go from memory
also didnt bother to read the pages 2-11 so dont know if this has been said.
ele/w uber thump: 9 hammer, 12-16 earth depends on the health you want id go 14 for no health loss(12+1+1) put the rest into energy storage.
the way i see it is you dont need much heals because its ra chances are you'll be with noobs or a monk or a combo like 3 good damage dealers and a monk that uses mending and says its a 1337 bonder lol. so ya 1 heal no heal dosent really matter. skills time: Glyph of restoration or flurry(your choice to have a heal or not) devastating blow, crushing blow, heavy blow, aftershock, armor of earth, res sig. if i missed a skill then ill add it later when i get to my computer. equipment: zealous hammerof +30 health armor insigs, standard stuff sup vig, minor earth then w/e do you want health or energy same old stuf ya i know. well anyway sorry for the lack of grammer/punctuation lol.

12+1+1 fire, 9+1 energy storage, 9+1 earth. You can fill up the free slot with Grasping Earth, Draw Conditions, anything really.
Basically you just spam mind blast, rodgorts and liquid on recharge and try to fit in a GG after rodgorts every now and then. It's pretty good DPS, and guardian doesn't completely own it.

Attributes are 11+1 Dagger, 11+1+1 Critical Strikes and 8+1 Shadow Arts, with a pair of Silencing daggers.
I like this build a lot. The process is: use Glyph of Lesser Energy, jump in with Beguiling Haze, hit Dash and Leaping Mantis Sting, Wild Strike, then Twisting Fangs. Thing about the build is that it requires support to work, because it can't really kill Monks by itself. Really effective thing is that you can usually predict how the enemy will use their Frenzied Defence and such, and time your Wild Strike so that it hits after they activate it. With a Dervish or Warrior or another Assassin on him, they will die in fairly short order (enough hits with your daggers and another melee-er will usually interrupt even 1/4 cast times like SoR or SoD). You have to really watch though, wait for the right moment to jump in.
Assassins are the most fun class to play in RA, in my opinion.

You got self heal, anti hex, you miss condition removal.
20% enchant axe+ shield highly recommanded.
The weakness of this build is, you need to maintain vital boon up for you combo. You got no IAS. Overall it's a versatile build with good defense.
The elite is really up to you. I choosed moebius 'cause the chain cant kill.

Since I almost always end up fighting a team with a monk I tried to make my assa a little better against casters.
Way of Perfection, Beguiling Haze, Golden Fox Strike (or Leaping Mantis Strike if caster is trying to escape after getting dazed), Wild Strike, Horns of The Ox, Falling Spider, Twisting Fangs and rez.

Concept bar mostly.
[skill]Golden Fox Strike[/skill] [skill]Wild Strike[/skill] [skill]Shattering Assault[/skill] [skill]Impale[/skill] [skill]Siphon Speed[/skill] [skill]Critical Defenses[/skill] optional [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
Dagger Mastery: 11+1+1
Deadly Arts: 6+1
Criticial Strikes: 12+1
Zealous Daggers of Fortitude.
Vampiric Daggers of Fortitude
Elemental Daggers of Fortitude
A Defensive Set Consisting of A Spear and A shield with +30 health each.
The optional skill can be filled with anything in that is specced in, or requires little attribute like mending touch or hex removal. You could use a shadow step or critical strike for energy management. If you carry some form of energy management don't use Radiant or a +5 dagger.
The bar can be used for simply attacking a monk without regards to most things (except hexes). Chain your attack skill and use Impale once their health gets around or below 50%. Scan for low health foes, the chain allows you to switch targets constantly. The bar is able to take most kinds of griefers down with unblockable attacks and enchantment removal. You can and might die to degeneration, but you are decent against melee with critical defenses.

I like the concept, and I just had a weird idea of using mending touch AND holy veil in the build...I haven't tried it out yet, not sure about the energy, but I'm sure it'd be pretty funny to become this un-shutdownable ball of fun running around...

Only downsides I can think of are the lack of veil, which can hurt vs mesmers or shroud of silence sins, and somewhat weak in the self healing department if you face heavy degening, caster pressure from fire eles, or those stupid signet of toxic shock builds. And even then, dismiss can be used as self healing in a pinch.

Can we, for the sake of lazyness, add the "template code" for both armour and skillsets? =P

Make sure u get 40 energy and the rest in health for armor/weapon set.
this is a great bar. i have personally tried it in RA and gotten a few glad points off of it. You might catch a few leavers tat autothink that /D on sin = nubcakes but its nbd. this works alot like the old BoA SP sin now that Golden Phoenix strike got a buff(now only 5 en cost).Use AoD then whirling then golden on and lotus at the end. if u following up w/ another spike on same target or on a different target, you can always use golden lotus b4 the combo. its just there for energy management. if you kno how to work on low energy tho it can be taken out for something else.all in all; ive run this a few times and think it is a great build.
|
its a good idea, and i tried something like this a while ago. the only problem is you can't always count on the kd from horns of the ox.
i made this awhile ago and i also thought it might be the next boa, but i realized the only difference is an extra kd, at the cost of a ias skill...
